There are new options for ‘Education, Health and Care Plans’ (E) and for ‘SEN Support’ (K).The ‘School Action’ (A) and ‘School Action Plus’ (P) options are being removed at the end of the academic year, these codes should not be used for new pupils
From the Autumn Census onwards, schools can record pupils as having either a statement or an EHC plan (but they cannot be recorded as having both).
From September 2014, schools are expected to review their ‘school action plus’ (P) and ‘school action’ (A) pupils and any new, newly identified, or reviewed pupils must be recorded with the new ‘SEN support’ (K) status where appropriate. The DfE expects this process to be completed in time for the Spring Census for new pupils and the end of the Summer Term for existing pupils.
BESD (behaviour, emotional and social difficulties) has been removed and replaced with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health). There is a new option for ‘No Specialist Assessment’ NSA.
