Bromcom: Transferring Assessment data to Insight

To transfer assessment data from Bromcom to Insight, you’ll typically export the data from Bromcom as a CSV file, edit it as needed, and then import it into Insight.

! We would recommend downloading one year group at a time as running by whole school may create some errors !

Steps to Transfer Assessment Data:

  1. Export from Bromcom:
    • In Bromcom, navigate to Modules > Assessment > View/Amend Assessment Data.
    • Use the “Find” button to select the students and “Add” to choose the assessment associations you want to export.
    • Click “View” to display the data in a spreadsheet.
    • Click the Excel button to export the data as a CSV file.
  1. Edit the Data (Optional):
    • Open the exported CSV file in Excel or a similar program.
    • You can add or modify data as needed, ensuring the column headings remain consistent
  1. Import into Insight:
    • In Insight, navigate to Account > Admin > Import CTF (if using a CTF) or the import option for CSV files.
    • Choose the CSV file (or CTF) you exported.
    • Review the changes Insight will make, including new, updated, or archived pupils.
    • Apply the changes.

Important Considerations:

  • Formative vs. Summative Assessments:

Insight can import summative assessments (like teacher assessments and test scores) but not formative assessments against objectives.

  • Historical Data:

You can transfer historical data, including summative assessments, into Insight, according to Insight Tracking.

  • Data Formatting:

Ensure the spreadsheet format in Bromcom is compatible with Insight’s import requirements.

  • Data Cleansing:

Before importing, it’s recommended to cleanse the data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
