How do I tell if I have Java installed and what version I have?

Please follow the instructions below based on the operating system installed on your computer.

Windows 8
Right-click on the bottom left of the screen and select Control Panel from the menu.
Select Programs.
Select Program and Features.
If Java is installed it will show in the list of programs along with the version number.
To remove versions of Java before Java 7 Update 25 select them from the list and click on Uninstall.

Windows 7
Click Start
Select Control Panel
Select Programs
Select Program and Features.
If Java is installed it will show in the list of programs along with the version number.
To remove versions of Java before Java 7 Update 25 select them from the list and click on Uninstall.

Windows XP

Please note Windows XP is no longer a supported operating system. If you are still using Windows XP you should upgrade or replace your computer.

Click Start
Select Control Panel
Select Add/Remove Programs
If Java is installed it will show in the list of programs along with the version number.
To remove versions of Java before Java 7 Update 25 select them from the list and click on Uninstall.
