Mac will not access the App Store and secure websites

If you are not able to access App Store, iTunes or any HTTPS websites on your Mac while in school but you are able to open normal (HTTP) websites its likely you will need to set the proxy for Secure Web Sites:

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Click on Network
  3. Select your active network connection  (WiFi or Ethernet) and click Details button
  4. Choose the Proxies tab and find “Web Proxy (HTTP)” and check what you have set for “Web Proxy Server” in the right panel (you may need to toggle on this setting and enter a proxy server for your network).
  5. Repeat checking/setting up the Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) using the same settings as in the “Web Proxy (HTTP)”
  6. Click Ok and close the Settings App.
  7. Once you have set this you should be able to access secure websites with HTTPS in the address, such as Google and App Store.
