How to enter a Pay Award in Sims .net

At various times pay awards are negotiated for different types of staff and the resulting agreed amounts published.  These figures will then need to be entered into Sims .net for both the School Workforce Census and budgeting purposes.

The latest pay award information for those schools who are following the nationally agreed pay scales (LA maintained schools and some academies) can be found here:

Teachers, Headteachers and Leadership
Click this link for Support Staff

Some local authorities and academies will have set up their own pay scales (bands and points within) so please refer to your LA or Trust HR Department for latest figures.

To enter the new amounts in Sims .net you need to do the following:-

1. Go to Tools>Staff>Pay Related

2. Search for the relevant Service Term eg TE for teaching staff

3. Go to section 2 Pay Awards

4. If there is a tick in Single Pay Spine then leave it there, if there isn’t a tick then don’t add one

5. Highlight the required scale (there will probably be numerous historical ones which may be ignored)

6. Click the New button beside the Scale Award and add the date eg 01/09/2021

7. On the right add the new figures

8. If there is a change to allowances these will need to be added in section 3 – highlight the required allowance and click the New button for Allowance Award, add the date and amount

9. Click Save

This routine will need to be repeated for all relevant service terms in use in school

If your school uses FMS for budgeting purposes make sure you also remove any temporary pay awards in Salary projections for the same service terms.

The route required is:-

FMS>Focus>Personnel Links>Salary Projection

Salary Projection>Annual Award Percentage (or the % icon on the right)

Find the service term and if an entry exists for the same date as entered in Sims .net use the minus to remove it

Save
