Windows 10 Anniversary Update (32bit) connectivity issues with Scomis Hosted Applications (Microsoft fix)

Since the recent Microsoft Anniversary Update to Windows 10 which appeared to have introduced a bug affecting a 32bit Windows 10 computer’s ability to establish a remote connection, including to our Hosted Application service. Users are unable to connect to the remote session and receive error messages relating to RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).

Previously the only way to resolve this issue was to either download the pre Anniversary update mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll, or taking them from your C:\Windows.Old\System32 folder, and replacing the broken files found in C:\Windows\System32.

However Microsoft have now released a fix for this issue in update KB3197954. The update won’t appear for download under Windows Updates and will instead need to be manually downloaded from the Microsoft website and applied to the effected PCs. Once the update has been run you will be able to use remote sessions on the PC.

The Download can be found at http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB3197954
