To be able to run SOLUS 3 effectively it needs to be installed on a computer with a hardware specification matching or exceeding that listed below. All details come from Capita and are correct as of March 2016.
Computer Processor (CPU)
I3 processor or higher (I5 or higher recommended for optimum performance in secondary schools).
(minimum recommended) 4GB or higher (8GB recommended for optimum performance in secondary schools).
Disk space guidance
Overhead space—5GB working space + 1/4GB for SQL Express. Customers should allow 5MB per pupil/student. For example, a 1000 pupil/student school would be advised to have at least 10GB free for SIMS/SOLUS 3.
File Server—2GB for applications and SIMS folder.
CD and DVD drive.
1024×768 or higher monitor resolution.
Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2. Microsoft WIndows 7, 8.1 and 10 are supported as servers for low numbers of users (i.e. five client PC’s or less).
Microsoft SQL Server 2012/SQL Express or Microsoft SQL Server 2014/SQL Express.
.NET Framework 4.5 Full is required.
