SIMS Personnel Annual Increments for Teaching Staff

As the majority of our schools have not moved from Points salaries within SIMS Personnel, users have asked if they are going to have to manually update each Teacher’s salary in September as the service terms do not appear within the Annual Increment routine now.

We are pleased to tell you that you can follow the steps below to utilise the Annual Increment routine for incrementing staff on teaching service terms without affecting your figures in FMS.

Step 1: Navigate to ToolsStaffPay Related

  1. Select Search
  2. Identify your Teaching Service Terms (i.e. Teachers, Teachers Upper, Unqualified Teachers, Lead Practitioner,etc)
  3. Double-click on one of your teaching Service Terms
  4. Locate Spinal Progression in Panel 1 and Tick the box next to it.
  5. The Increment Month field underneath will now be enabled. Use the drop-down list to select September.
  6. Select Save at the top-left of the screen to save your change.
  7. Select Browse and repeat Steps 3-6 to affect this change on all your teaching Service Terms.
  8. Close down this window.

Step 2: Navigate to ToolsStaffAnnual Increment

  1. Use the drop-down boxes to select one of your teaching Service Terms, the year (2014 in this instance) and the increment month of September
  2. Select Search (positioned after the increment month drop-down box)
  3. You will now see a list of your teachers within that service term, together with their current point, the point they would be moved to, the effective date of the new salary and the last increment date.
  4. Tick the box next to each name(s) you wish to receive an increment.
  5. When you are happy with your selections, select Apply at the top-left of the screen.
  6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to list, select and apply increments to staff members within your other teaching Service Terms
  7. Close down this window.

Step 3: Navigate to ToolsStaffPay Related

  1. Select Search
  2. Double-click on one of your teaching Service Terms
  3. Locate Spinal Progression in Panel 1 and Untick the box next to it.
  4. Select Save at the top-left of the screen to save your change.
  5. Select Browse and repeat Steps 1-4 to affect this change on all your teaching Service Terms.
  6. Close down this window.

Navigate to your personnel record(s) and check under Employment Details – Contract – Pay Scales panel to ensure that they have a new entry with their incremented salary details to confirm the changes have been made correctly.
