Attaching a SIMS .net or FMS Database

All SIMS and FMS databases need to be attached to the SQL instane using the Capita DBAttach.exe program, as this runs special routines that restores SQL usernames and passwords.

Launch DBAttach (usually in C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\DBAttach.exe)

Enter the Name of the SQL Instance (this will be formatted such as <computername>\<sqlinstance> e.g. SERVER\SIMS2008

Enter the SA userID, password then click Connect.

In the “Attach a Detached Database” section, Enter the name of the database (e.g. SIMS or FMS or FCRFMS)

Use the “…” button to browse to the location of the MDF/LDF database files.

Finally click Attach.

A message will be displayed showing any errors or a successful message.

NOTE: Always close DBAttach once it has completed attaching the database as it keeps the database locked open and will produce errors if you attempt to connect an additional database.

DO NOT use DBAttach to attach the sco_apps_sims database or P7_Contracts_sims databases.
