How to Map Network Drive in Windows 7
Please note – Microsoft will no longer offer security fixes for Windows 7 from January 2020, upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as possible.
Open Windows Explorer by double clicking on the Computer icon on the Desktop.
Click on Tools menu and select Map Network Drive… option as shown above. If this Menu does not show press the ‘ALT’ key and it should appear.
In the Map Network Drive window select the drive letter from the dropdown in most schools it will be Letters F & G and the folder will be
For F type \\Server\Whole.
Whole is mapped as drive F:, and only administrators should have access to this. This is where you would, for example, store documents that were not for public viewing.
For G type \\Server \Public.
Public is mapped to G:, and all users who access this – for example SIMS users – should be given Modify permission levels.
or click on Browse button and select the folder to be mapped as highlighted above, In the Browse for Folder dialog box navigate to the folder to be mapped and press OK
Click Finish button in the Map Network Drive window
You can now see the mapped network drive on the Computer window
