Attendance Code F

Due to changes in the Education Regulations, Headteachers can now only grant leave of absence during term time in exceptional circumstances and are responsible for determining the number of days permitted to be taken. Therefore, the Headteacher no longer needs to grant extended leave. This has resulted in the use of attendance code F (extended family holiday (agreed) being withdrawn from all maintained schools in England from September 2013.
Although as of the SIMS 2013 Autumn Release, the attendance code F is no longer available for selection in SIMS Attendance/Lesson Monitor, it is still included in applicable reports.
NOTE: Autumn term absence data collected in the School Census Spring 2014 will combine code F with code H (family holiday (agreed).
