Scomis Hosted Application Connector – Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer farm.rdp.scomis.org
Problem
When connecting to the Scomis Hosted Application service you may get an error relating to “Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer”
Remote Desktop can’t connect to the remote computer “farm.rdp.scomis.org” for one of these reasons:
1) Your user account is not authorized to access the RD Gateway “gw-eclipse.rdp.scomis.org”
2) Your computer is not authorized to access the RD Gateway “gw-eclipse.rdp.scomis.org”
3) You are using an incompatible authentication method (for example, the RD Gateway might be expecting a smart card but you provided a password)
Contact your network administrator for assistance.
If you are trying to access the service in school there maybe a connectivity problem, see if you can access http://bbc.co.uk
If you can, try and browse to the following gateway addresses in your web browser, you should see the Scomis logo appear for each one.
If you can access each of the webpages above, check the webpage certificate to see if it is issued by Geant. If it is issued by another provider i.e. SmoothWall, the filtering system or proxy may be intercepting this and you will need to add an exception. If none of the web pages are accessible, try pinging them. If there is no response, it is likely the be an internet/filtering/proxy related issue. See the Hosted Applications internet requirements here.
You can also try:
In the Scomis Hosted connector click the Help > Reset to default settings option
In the Scomis Hosted connector click the Connections option and choose ‘Force failover connection’ this will only work if you are able to access one of the gateway addresses above, as this will move your connection to an alternative one than the default.
