Sims TeacherApp – Summary of Setup Process for Hosted and Non Hosted Schools.

Below is a summary of the process for hosted schools and non hosted schools.  Linked documentation shows the details of each step of the process.

Using Office 365 with SIMS Teacher App

Hosted Schools:

  1. School contact Capita and order Sims Teacher App.
  2. School checks the pre-requisites. School do not need to set up Sims Service Manager.
  3. Capita send school email with a link to set up Sims Teacher App Service
  4. School submit a data authorisation request with Scomis by following the instructions here: Requesting data for third party software using the Data Authorisation Tool. Select SIMS Services Manager, and await a service request to be confirmed via email.
  5. School clicks into the link to the setup wizard. The first step shows the Sims Teacher App Activation Key which the school will need to copy onto the clipboard and send it in an email to Scomis, quoting their service request number.
  6. Scomis configure SSM and put in the activation key.
  7. Scomis configure an External Account and send the details to the School.
  8. School return to the wizard and Test Service Connectivity.
  9. School go to the next step in the wizard and set up the Teacher App Administrator.
  10. School clicks on Send Invitation which will generate an email with information to the TeacherApp Administrator on how to access the website where they can register their devices and users.
  11. School logs onto the Teacher App Administrator website https://setup.capita-sims.co.uk with their username and password from step 8. and the external account username and password from step 6.
  12. School follows the guidance to set up their devices and teachers.

Non Hosted Schools

School contact Capita and order Sims Teacher App.

  1. School to check the pre-requisites and setups up Sims Service Manager.
  2. Capita send school email with a link to set up Sims Teacher App Service
  3. School clicks into the link to the setup wizard. The first step shows the Sims Teacher App Licence Key which the school will need to put into the Teacher App Service on Sims Service Manager
  4. School return to the wizard and Test Service Connectivity.
  5. School go to the next step in the wizard and set up the Teacher App Administrator.
  6. School clicks on Send Invitation which will generate an email with information to the TeacherApp Administrator on how to access the website where they can register their devices and users.
  7. School logs onto the Teacher App Administrator website https://setup.capita-sims.co.uk with their username and password from step 8. and their SIMS username and password.
  8. School follows the guidance to set up their devices and teachers.
