What is SIMS.ini

SIMS.ini is used be the Capita SIMS .net and related applications to store the file paths and settings used by the application and software updaters. It is always located in the C:\Windows folder.  It can be edited in a text editor such as Notepad, but in order to save requires elevated permissions as the file is protected by UAC.

An example SIMS.INI from an External Connector workstation

[Setup]
SIMSDirectory=C:\Support
SIMS Directory=C:\Support
SIMSDotNetDirectory=C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net
SIMSSetupsDirectory=C:\Support

 

An example SIMS.INI (Cut down version)

[Setup]
SIMSDirectory=F:\PUBLIC\SIMS
SIMS Directory=F:\PUBLIC\SIMS
SIMSDotNetDirectory=C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net
SIMSSetupsDirectory=F:\PUBLIC\SIMS\Setups
