Checks To Make Before Authorising A Request For Access To Devon Staff Pages
This FAQ will guide you through the process of verifying, recording and authorising a request from a school for access to the Devon staff pages (The Source). This process is a temporary workaround and the process is under review by ICT Services.
Schools go to www.devon.gov.uk/login to complete and submit a form requesting an account to access the Devon staff pages.
The form is then available to Service Desk Analysts with the correct access to Devon Information Staff Directory
Once the Analyst has logged in they will see, under Staff Users Awaiting Authentication double, a list of User names.
- Select a User name which will open the Authorise User screen.
- Copy the form into a Service Request and give it the subject Devon Login Setup Request

The following checks need to be made before Accepting the Registration
Check that this is a Devon Maintained School
This can be checked against the organisation in Supportworks
Check the Devon Login Access Requests spreadsheet to see if the person already has an existing account
If the account already exists you will need to send an email advising that the request has been rejected as the User already has an existing account. Direct them to www.devon.gov.uk/login to select ‘ I have forgotten my password ‘ which will be emailed to the address on the spreadsheet.
Reject Registration
Check the User name is DCC compliant and not generic
We only allow naming conventions such as jbloggs or Joe.bloggs or j.bloggs generic User names such as the school name, school code, Admin or Finance are not acceptable.
If the form has a generic User name you will need to email the User explaining that it is not Devon County policy to use generic User names and they will need to complete a new form with an appropriate User name

Check the email address
The email address should be a personal school email address, this can be verified against the email address in Supportworks. If the post or role is suitable we will accept admin@
If the email address does not contain the school domain you will need to email the User and state that they need to complete a new form with a personal school email address
Reject Registration
If all of the above has been checked and the information provided is acceptable, copy the information into the Devon Login Access Request spreadsheet . Supportworks case reference should be added to the entry in the spreadsheet
Mark the Supportworks case as resolved and a first time fix, with the resolution reason as Verified email address.
You do not need to send a resolution email as this is sent as part of the Authorisation process.
You can now Accept Registration
Troubleshooting
If a school is submitting a report but we are not receiving it, select Compatibility mode and resubmit the form
