Nursery Funded Hours and Extended Funded Hours split across more than one Provider

If parents split nursery hours across two providers, the hours have to be shared when recording in SIMS at the two sites.

The recording in SIMS is via Tools | Statutory Return Tools | Update Early Years, and update the ‘Funded Hours’ and if applicable the ‘Extended Funded Hours’ columns. For Extended Funded Hours, the 30 Hour Code will be used in SIMS for both nurseries.

Here is an example :

A parent has 15 Funded Hours for Nursery and 15 Extended Funded Hours and has a 30 Hour code.

At Nursery 1 the parent uses 15 hours and at Nursery 2 they use 15 hours.

In SIMS, at Nursery 1 they would record 7.5 Funded Hours and 7.5 Extended Funded Hours and enter the 30 Hour Code.

At Nursery 2, exactly the same would be done, 7.5 Funded Hours and 7.5 Extended Hours and enter the same 30 Hour Code.

So the total overall recorded hours for the child will be 15 Funded Hours and 15 Extended Funded Hours.

The Funded Hours and Extended Funded hours will need to be split proportionately across how ever many providers are being used and how ever many hours are being taken up at each setting.

Here is another example :

The child is at two nurseries, 10 hours at 1 nursery and 20 hours at another.

At Nursery 1, they would record 5 Funded Hours and 5 Extended Funded Hours and use the 30 Hour Code

At Nursery 2 they would record 10 Funded Hours and 10 Extended Funded Hours and use the same 30 Hour Code

The total overall recorded hours for the child is still 30 Hours.
