The version of SIMS on my External Connector is out of date
When we release SIM’s latest update onto our Hosted platform the SIMS Auto Update tool, included with the External Connector, will automatically update the instance of SIMS included with the connector to the same version. However some third party applications such as Inventry are constantly connecting to SIMS which stops the auto update tool from running the update. When this happens the connection between the third party application and the Hosted database will fail.
The following steps will guide you through resolving this issue:
Step 1 – Stop the third party application services
Open your start menu, enter “services” into the search bar, and open the Services application that appears. Then browse the list for services belonging to third party applications, as you come across these services right click on them and choose the stop option from the list.
Step 2 – Download the latest version of SIMS
After stopping the services you will need to download and install the latest version of SIMS. You can get the latest SIMS install as either a .exe or a .zip from the following links:
.exe – here
.zip – here
Step 3 – Test SIMS to make sure it has updated
After the installation has completed, open SIMS and login using the SIMS details you created for the third party application.
Step 4 – Restarting the third party application services
After successfully logging into SIMS, you can close the program and restart the third party services, this can be done by searching for “services” in the start menu and opening the Services application. Once in the Services application right click on the third party applications and choose the start option from the list. This will then allow the applications to link to SIMS and gather the data they require.
