Encryption – How To Perform a user recovery

Scenario – A Customer is unable to log onto their encrypted device because they have forgotten their password…

Note: If you are a customer who has forgotten your password please telephone the Service Desk on 01392 385300 so that we can complete this recovery process for you.

The instructions for this process have now been moved and integrated into the Scomis Encryption Service Online Recovery Portal at: http://www.scomis.org/go/encryptionrecovery

Requesting Access: If you are a school administrator with an .adm account on the service please see this faq for details on requesting access to this system: http://faq.scomis.org/kb4659/

Known Issues/Limitations with the portal:

  • You can only access the portal from a DCC or SWGfL IP Address
  • You may need to enter a proxy exception for the site to enable access
  • You may need to make similar changes to your ISA/TMG/Proxy server if used to enable access
  • The system will be unavailable during the daily backup windows of 2am through to 4am
  • The system maybe taken down for maintenance / upgrades without notice
