Encryption: Can I take an image of an encrypted device, i.e with Ghost?

Question:

Can I take an image of an encrypted device, i.e with Ghost?

Answer:

Any standard imaging tool should work with an encrypted device. However, because the whole of the disc (including free space) is encrypted you can only take an image of everything with little compression possible, so a 60GB disc generally gives you a 60GB image. You may also need to do a disk rather than partition image.

With encrypted laptops, where for example windows has become corrupt we would recommend re-imaging with WDS (or your normal method), applying all updates then re-installing encryption.  You need to log a call to let us know before re-encrypting the device so the old one can be deleted from our DB otherwise a duplicate will occur.
