We have found a small number of recent Toshiba Notebooks have problems with the Scomis Encryption Software with their default BIOS configuration and revision.
With any installation you will backup your data before installing so there should be no data loss however if possible it is also recommended to take an image based (i.e Ghost) backup for easy restoration in the case of a problem with one of these models; Satellite Pro L450, L500, L500D, L550 & L550D, Satellite U400, U400D
Before installing the Scomis Encryption Service software onto a Toshiba Satellite Pro Notebook please make sure of the following:
- That you have the most up to date BIOS, see the Toshiba support site to check for available updates
- In the BIOS under “Advanced” make sure that the SATA Controller Mode is changed to Compatibility
If you are unsure of how to complete any of these steps and think you have one of these models of laptop/notebook please log a call with the service desk before installing.
