It sounds like the marks have been preserved. There is a toggle button at the top of the screen within Edit Marks, click on this to switch between overwrite and preserve.
Open all the allowances, posts and scales and look for a blank or red field, fill in the required information and then try to save again.
If you backdate a contract it will affect FMS. If you have reconciled against the old contract the advice is to not backdate unless you are happy to change FMS as well.
